As we embarked on our recent adventure to Cikaso Waterfall, nestled in the lush landscapes of West Java, Indonesia, we were captivated by its natural beauty and the tranquil environment it offers.
If you’re a nature enthusiast or simply looking for a serene escape from the daily grind, Cikaso Waterfall is a destination you won’t want to miss.
A Majestic Natural Wonder
Our journey to Cikaso Waterfall began with a scenic drive through the verdant hills and winding roads of Sukabumi. The waterfall, locally known as Curug Cikaso, is a breathtaking three-tiered cascade that plunges from a height of approximately 80 meters. The sight of the water cascading over the rugged cliff face into the crystal-clear pool below is nothing short of mesmerizing.
The best time to visit is between 8 AM and 4 PM, which allows ample time to explore the area and take in the stunning views. The ticket price is quite affordable at around IDR 25,000 (about $1.70) per person, making it a budget-friendly destination for all.
Exploring the Surroundings
As we arrived at the entrance, we were greeted by friendly local guides who offered us a brief overview of the area. The trek to the waterfall involves a 15-minute walk through a lush forest trail, which is as enchanting as the waterfall itself. Along the way, we spotted various local flora and fauna, adding to the sense of adventure.
The waterfall is divided into three sections: the upper, middle, and lower falls. Each tier has its own unique charm. The upper falls, with their misty spray, create a rainbow on sunny days, while the lower falls are perfect for a refreshing dip in the cool water. We enjoyed a picnic by the pool, taking in the serene sounds of nature.
Local Cuisine Delights
After a day of exploring, we ventured into the nearby town to experience some local culinary delights. One of the must-try dishes is nasi goreng, a flavorful fried rice dish often served with chicken or seafood.
We found a cozy local warung (small eatery) where we enjoyed a generous portion for around IDR 35,000 (about $2.40). Another favorite was sate ayam, skewers of grilled chicken served with a delicious peanut sauce, costing about IDR 30,000 (around $2.10).
For dessert, we couldn’t resist trying es kelapa muda, a refreshing coconut ice drink that’s perfect for cooling down after a day of hiking. This delightful treat cost us around IDR 20,000 (about $1.40).
