Nestled in the heart of Bavaria, Tegernsee is a picturesque lake that captivates with its stunning landscapes, charming villages, and a range of activities perfect for both relaxation and adventure.
On our recent trip, we discovered why this destination is a must-visit for nature lovers and those seeking a serene escape.
Scenic Beauty and Outdoor Adventures
As we strolled along the crystal-clear waters of Tegernsee, we were immediately struck by the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. The lake itself stretches over 6 kilometers, making it ideal for walking and cycling. We opted for the scenic lakeside path, which offers panoramic views and delightful spots for picnics.
For those interested in water activities, renting a paddleboat or kayak is a great way to explore the lake up close. Rentals are available at various spots around the lake, with prices typically starting at €15 per hour. Don’t miss the chance to take a dip in the refreshing waters; there are several designated swimming areas, perfect for a summer day.
One of the highlights of our trip was visiting the Tegernsee Thermal Spa. This luxurious spa offers a range of wellness treatments, saunas, and thermal baths with stunning lake views. The spa is open daily from 9 AM to 10 PM, and entrance tickets start at €25 for a day pass, which grants you access to all facilities.
Another must-see is the Tegernsee Museum, which showcases the rich history and culture of the region. We loved learning about local traditions, including the art of glassblowing and traditional Bavarian crafts. The museum is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10 AM to 5 PM, and tickets are priced at €6 for adults and €3 for children.
